  OfA pl. dššyn

1  door panel  OfAEg, Qumran, Jud, JLAtg, Sam, JBA, LJLA. TAD A4.7R.10 : ציריהם זי דששיא אלך נחש  the hinges of those door panels were bronze. 11QtgJob 30.6=38:8 : התסוג בדשין ימא  can you shut in the sea with doors?. QumNJ 5:1:1:9 : לכל תרע ותרע דשין תרין די אבן  each gate has two stone door panels. XHev/Se 8.4 : ודשיה ומפתחה . BT Er 102a(32) : ההיא שריתא דהוה בבי ר׳ פדת שקלי לה בעשרה ושדו לה אדשא  a certain beam which was in PN's house (which) ten men used to take and place (as a bolt) on the door. (a) doorway  JLAtg, JBA, Man. TgJ Ez41:24 : תַרתֵין לְדַשָא חֲדָא וְתַרתֵין דַשִין לְאוֹחרָנְתָא  two (panels) for the one door and two panels for the other . BT Ḥul 47a(9) : יתיב רב אחי בר ביבי אדשא  PN was sitting at the doorway.

From Akkadian daltu with the inner Akkadian phonological change of /lt/>/šš/. The doubt expressed by DNWSI and von Soden AHw is unwarranted absent a reasonable alternative etymology. See AIOA 45.
Note especially the cited passage from TgJ Ez41:24 where the singular form means "doorway" and the plural "panels".
