IshSong II:1 : ܫܒܘ̈ܩܐ ܩܛ̈ܝܢܐ ܕܣܸܐܡܵܐ ܒܢܝ̈ ܐܪܒܥ ܨܒ̈ܥܢ  thin strips of silver four fingers long.

Occasionally, the Hebrew/Phoenician/Arabizing form בן is found in the sg.much as we might use bin or bar as part of a Semitic name in English contexts even today.
In Syriac the first syllable has elided vowel in suffixed forms but the vowel returns as /e/ (not /a/) when necessary. It is not clear whether this is the origin of the western absolute or not. Ancient cuneiform-written names in pi-ir should be understood to reflect the word "fruit" and not our word.
Compounds are listed as independent headwords only when the meaning of the compound is other than the sum of its parts; use the "view entire list" option above to see the others, but note that some compounds share more than one of the listed semantic characteristics. It must also be understood that any compound in br could have an equivalent in brt- if the referent is explicitly femine.
