(ḥayl/ḥēl, ḥaylā)
| const: ḥēl; pl: normally masc., but often ḥaylāwān when used as an abstract idea or in reference to armies in general or in particular the hosts of Heaven. (Jacob of Sarugh, for example, regularly distinguishes betweeen ܚܝ̈ܠܐ for "mighty deeds" or individual fighters and ܚܝ̈ܠܘܬܐ for "armies.")
