(ˁayn/ˁēn, ˁaynā)
| The plural varies: in the physical senses it takes the masculine (originally dual!) ending ˁaynē,but in the metaphorical senses the fem. ending (e.g. ˁaynān, ˁaynāṯā) is usual. The W.Syr. absolute is ˁīn. For a possible Syriac form ܥܲܢܵܐ see BarB 1444:18. |

| Forms of the construct and emphatic vary widely among dialects: OfA: brh, brt, brtˀ; JLA בְּרה٠ בַּת٠ בְּרַתָּא ; Syr. ܒܲܪ̄ܬ܂ ܒܲܪܬܵܐ ; JBA בְּרַת٠ בַּת٠ בְּרַתָּא . The construct state is regularly pronounced and spelled baṯ, but in Syriac spelled historically with a resh that is not pronounced. OA only pl. bnth and so other non-late dialects; LJLA pl. also ברתא ; Mand const. often: pt in full names |
