byry$) GN Geographic name : It is unclear whether this should be understood as the not uncommon Byzantine place name Baris or simply as "house of the leader" in Aramaic. For the identification of Trans-Jordanian Qiryataim with it see Eusebius quoted in Levy Ch-W 1:118. There does not seem to be any other source for PsJ's tradition of streets paved with marble for this city, but many of the major cities of Byzantine times (e.g. Athens, Izmir) had such pavements.
