TgProv regular var. is ילפא as a sophomoric hypercorrection by a scribe who knew that initial yodh words in Jewish Aramaic often corresponded to aleph yodh in syriacizing texts; compare similar forms such as the var. ירסא for ארסא "venom" at TargPs 58:5 (for which see Levy Ch-W 1:345).
