OA, OfA zy; MA dy, d; later d but also dy in various positions; Sam. often אד; in Mandaic written with a unique ligature developed from "d" + "y", in our code transcribed as "ḏ", and considered to be the last letter of the alphabet.

gb, gbˀ (gaḇ (geḇ), gabbā) n.m. side, flank:
Syr. regularly ܓܸܢܼܒ , esp. in the compound ܥܲܠ ܓܸܢܼܒ ; see s.v. ˁl gb prep. The form גונבא at PsJ Dt 14:9 is influenced by the JBA word meaning "tail" as shown by incorrect variants of דונבא at TgJob 40:17.
