Pl. nap̄šān, nap̄šāṯā. The postvocalic sequence /pš/ in this common word resulted in many phonetic variations: In OA (and even in late western Syriac: see BHGr2 205:7), nbš, in Palm. also nm$; in East Syr. pronounced /nawšā/ along with other common words with syllable-ending spirantized peh.
