In JBA as an independent word prothetic א _ w. doubling of the following consonant. Withe pron. suffixes, spelled in full in JBA aעלי , but can be אלי in JBAmb.

(b.1) על ד : according to the opinion of Gal. --(c) w. pronominal suffixes : woe upon me, you etc. Man. --(d) because of BA-Ez, Qum. --(e) using, by means of (?) JBA. (e.1) with (as an alternative to b_ in adverbal constructions) CPA.

byn, byny (bēn, baynay, bēnē) prep. between, among

The distribution of the forms in the Standard literary Aramaic tradition is as follows: The independent form is bēn, but bēnē before plural pronominal suffixes. In PTA, LJLA, and the Babylonian dialects the back-formation ביני becomes the normal independent form. In Syriac onlyܒܲܝܢܲܝ , and this form (as opposed to byt, bynt) is used in our database in older texts almost always only when used in the byny ... l_ construction. In Sam. ביני is relatively rare as an independent form.
