plural: bnīn (Sam. const. also bārī!); absolute: bar in literary and Eastern dialects, ber in Western. In the plurals of compounds br almost always appears in the plural form itself.

byn, byny (bēn, baynay, bēnē) prep. between, among
The distribution of the forms in the Standard literary Aramaic tradition is as follows: The independent form is bēn, but bēnē before plural pronominal suffixes. In PTA, LJLA, and the Babylonian dialects the back-formation ביני becomes the normal independent form. In Syriac onlyܒܲܝܢܲܝ , and this form (as opposed to byt, bynt) is used in our database in older texts almost always only when used in the byny ... l_ construction. In Sam. ביני is relatively rare as an independent form.
