1Esdras(3 Ezra): 1Esdras(3 Ezra) in the Syro-Hexaplaric tradition as prepared for the Leiden Peshitta Project edition by W. Baars and J.C.H. Lebram, 1972 and digitized by that project ( from the Lagarde edition?) with corrections to the digital file by CAL staff. Students should note that this is a highly literal and wooden translation from the Greek and does not reflect standard Syriac syntax. It is also to be pointed out to students that the Greek itself was probably a somewhat freer translation of a semitic original; see e.g. the use of 'first' that has to be glossed as 'east' at 5:46 and the ubiquitous introductory "and" of main clauses.
